A public API, company sign-in with your own identity provider, calendar feeds, imports and exports. Everything below works today. What does not exist yet is in the FAQ, in plain words.

Public API

A plain HTTPS and JSON API at api.hoursquare.com. Create a company API key in the Hub, exchange it for a 15-minute access token, and call only what that key was allowed to do. Rate limits, safe retries and paging are documented.

Time clocks and kiosks

Record clock-in and clock-out punches from a hardware time clock, a kiosk or a script. Map badge IDs to people, post completed shifts and read the entries back to reconcile them.

Company sign-in (SSO)

Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, Google Workspace or any OpenID Connect provider. Verify your domain, run a test sign-in, then make company sign-in optional or required. It is included for every company at no extra cost and switched on per company: contact us and we switch it on.

Data in and out

Calendars, files and spreadsheets.

The formats your calendar app, bank and accountant already understand.

Calendar feeds

Everyone gets a personal link that shows their approved time off and the company holidays in Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook. They can replace the link at any time.

Payment and accountant files

Save the layout your bank or accountant expects once: columns, separator, decimal mark and date format, as CSV or Excel. Then download the payment file from each approved pay run, and an accountant export for any period.

Leave, attendance, overtime, payroll cost and headcount reports download as CSV or Excel, ready for the board or your accountant.

The API in three steps

From key to first request.

It takes an administrator and a terminal. No sales call needed, no approval queue.

Create a key
In the Hub, open Settings › API & integrations and create a key with a name and the scopes it needs. The secret is shown once.

Exchange it for a token
Send the key to the token endpoint. You get a Bearer token that lives for 15 minutes.

Call the API
Send the token with each request. Today the API covers time clocks (record punches and shifts, read entries) and the people directory (list employees, set an external ID).

Keys belong to the company, not to the person who created them, and every call is recorded against the key.

Is there a public API?

Yes. It is a plain HTTPS and JSON API at api.hoursquare.com. An administrator with the Manage API keys permission creates a key in the Hub under Settings › API & integrations. Today it covers time clocks and the people directory. The interactive reference lists every endpoint, and the developer guides cover the errors and limits.

Which identity providers work with company sign-in?

Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, Google Workspace and any provider that supports OpenID Connect. SAML is not supported. Company sign-in is included for every company at no extra cost and is switched on per company: contact us and we will switch it on, then your admin verifies the domain and connects the provider in the Hub.

Does HourSquare connect to Slack, Microsoft Teams or Zapier?

Not yet. HourSquare has no Slack or Microsoft Teams integration today, and no Zapier app. What exists is the public API and the exports on this page.

Does it connect to my bank or accounting software?

Not directly. HourSquare gives you the payment file and the accountant export in the layout you saved, and you upload them where they belong.

Can I get my data out?

Yes. Reports download as CSV or Excel, and you can export your employee list at any time.
